My Proclivity

I peer into the mist.

It is a shallow, supple thing

that seems to go on forever.

I step inside of it,

enveloped in a reflection

of my own antipathy.

I walk slowly,

fashioning myself

swimming in this

sea of air,

adrift in my own

anticipation.

I cannot find

the answer in

the daylight.

Perhaps I will find it

more easily

when I can see

nothing

at all.
